Support for family formations

The economically important areas of Syria lie in the coastal region and in the western parts of the country. The economic development of the geographically remote region of Gozarto came through the cultivation of cotton in the 1950s, followed by oil production. When the war broke out, the livelihoods of many people were destroyed and the economy almost came to a standstill. In the face of material hardship, the willingness to marry has declined. In Gozarto, the man traditionally brings the income to the family but at a time when there is no work, the young men often do not know how to pay the cost of a wedding and feed a family.

The foundation will provide financial support to young people who are willing to form a family. The foundation will pay annually the wedding costs for 10 couples. The future of the Aramaeans in Gozarto ultimately also depends on whether families are formed there.
